President’s Words ~ Write on Que

Hello Compeers,

May's meeting is right around the corner, Tuesday the 10th.  I was talking to Joel about the dollar store magic meeting and how much fun that was and what a bunch of great ideas that were shared.  If you think about it, it's a lot like impromptu magic.  because you're performing on the spot.  So the question becomes, what do you carry on you, for such an occasion?  So let's continue that theme, magic you can do any time, any where.  Bring what you have and let's share it with everyone.

I'll be sharing a little bit about the collectors convention in Austin, Texas.  I think Jackie has gone to the clown convention and hopefully she has some good news from there.

See you all May 10th at the Milanese Restaurant, Main Street Poughkeepsie, NY.  Dinner @ 6:00 p.m. Meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

Dollar store and impromptu magic

Last Meeting - Jackie’s convention competition preview & lecture by David Jonathan

The evening started off this fine April evening with our own Jackie Reynolds giving us a preview of her upcoming performance at the national clown convention coming up later this month in Atlanta.  Good luck Jackie!

We had the pleasure of having David Jonathan with us to explain the magical effects that he creates.  He starts off with several card effects, then he relates a story about his 6 year old daughter using flash cards and dice. It comes out better than it sounds. After several more effects with cards and dice, he shows us one using ESP cards that have a slightly "roughed" texture to them. Another effect is "Door Dash", where an appetizer, entree, drink and dessert prediction all turn out to be correctly named.

Other card effects return, each with a different premise, with a description of how they each were created.  It was a wonderful evening with a gentleman who puts a lot of thought into his work.  You should definitely look up the name of David Jonathan.  You won't be disappointed.
